The European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) has announced the 2026 ESE Award winners, recognizing leading contributors to scientific progress and clinical innovation in endocrinology. All recipients will present plenary lectures at the European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE) 2026, to be held in Prague, Czech Republic, 9–12 May.
ESE President Wiebke Arlt praised this year’s awardees, stating: “We had outstanding candidates for the 2026 ESE Awards. Our Award winners are exceptional, they have made huge contributions to the advancement of science and patient care in the field of endocrinology. They are fully deserving winners of these prestigious Awards, and I know they will deliver excellent Award lectures at the European Congress of Endocrinology (ECE) 2026 next May.”

The Geoffrey Harris Award goes to Martin Reincke (Germany) for his internationally recognized contributions to pituitary and adrenal research, including seminal work on adrenal hyperfunction and endocrine hypertension. A former ESE President, he has been a central figure in advancing neuroendocrinology.
The European Hormone Medal is awarded to Maria-Christina Zennaro (France), whose research has significantly advanced understanding of hypertension and adrenal disorders. Her leadership in genetic and mechanistic studies has informed precision medicine in cardiovascular endocrinology.
The European Endocrine Nurse Award honours Elisabeth Rutten (Belgium) for her impact on patient education and endocrine nursing, including her home care programme for acromegaly and her leadership within international nursing networks.
The Clinical Endocrinology Journal Foundation Award is presented to Tracy Ann Williams (Germany) for pioneering research on primary aldosteronism, linking molecular mechanisms with clinical diagnostics to improve management of adrenal hypertension.
The European Journal of Endocrinology Award recognizes Marco Medici (The Netherlands) for his high-impact publications and leadership of international thyroid research collaborations, advancing personalized care for thyroid disorders.
Finally, the Jens Sandahl Christiansen Award honours Ido Goldstein (Israel) for basic science achievements in metabolism and Camille Vatier (France) for clinical research advancing understanding and treatment of lipodystrophies and severe insulin resistance.
These distinguished awardees exemplify excellence across endocrine science and care, and will contribute key insights at ECE 2026.
The European Society of Endocrinology (ESE)
