Francesco Chiarelli
Professor Chiarelli’s research of interest includes molecular and cell biology of diabetic macroangiopathy, growth and growth factors, insulin resistance in children, abnormal puberty, early diagnosis of microangiopathy in children, obesity and type 2 diabetes in children.
He is often invited as a speaker in Europe, Japan, Australia, Asia and the United States. He is a prominent member of several societies, including the European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the International Pediatric Association (IPA), the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology (SIEDP). And ‘the Secretary General of the ESPE (2004-2011) was President of the ESPE in 2009 and 2013; is a member of the World Health Organization Task Force for Diabetes in the Child.
