Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has been a critical tool for people living with diabetes to help manage glucose levels. FLASH-UK is an open-label, multi-centre, randomised study to assess the efficacy of flash glucose monitoring with FreeStyle Libre 2 in adults with sub-optimally controlled type 1 diabetes. We were delighted to speak with Dr Lalantha Leelarathna (Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester, UK) to discuss the FLASH-UK study and also discuss other evidence supporting the use of CGM systems for people living with diabetes.

Questions:

  1. What evidence supports the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems for people living with diabetes? (0:29)
  2. Can you give us a brief overview of your study on the FreeStyle Libre 2 CGM system? (3:01)

Disclosures: Lalantha Leelarathna is a consultant for Abbott Diabetes Care, Dexcom, Insulet, Medtronic, Novo Nordisk and Sanofi Diabetes Care and discloses grant/research support from Novo Nordisk.

Support: Interview and filming supported by Touch Medical Media Ltd. Interview conducted by Shanice Allen.
