As we strive to improve endocrine health worldwide, I am excited to share how the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) is leading the way. AACE is a global, inclusive community of endocrine-focused members and stakeholders from diverse professional backgrounds. I am excited to highlight our recent achievements and how you can join our initiatives to help shape the future of clinical endocrinology.

International Growth and Community Engagement

The AACE mission is to elevate the practice of clinical endocrinology to improve global health. This has a dual meaning. First, we are always striving to improve the overall health, longevity, and quality of life for our patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. Second, our mission also mandates that we reach out in a collaborative spirit, as a global partner, with our colleagues across the world to educate each other on the advances in our field that impact our clinical practice. As a global organization, we offer educational programs and collaborative initiatives in multiple regions, including the Middle East, North Africa, and India. I would like to invite you to join me at our next AACE MENA Conference, which will be held in Dubai, UAE, from November 22-24, 2024. Additionally, I welcome you to attend our AACE Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL, from May 15 – 17, 2025, where our theme will be Innovating in Endocrine Health and Breaking Down Barriers to Combat Obesity. Registration will open this coming fall.

Our international growth has enabled us to connect with colleagues worldwide and has led to the launch of our new AACE Community online platform — a dynamic space for members to connect and explore the latest advancements in clinical endocrinology. Within this platform, we have two specialized Topical Interest Groups: Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Clinical Endocrinology Community and Endocrine Disruptors Community. These groups provide members the opportunity to discuss innovations in clinical endocrinology with the global community. To join the conversation, log in with your AACE account. If you’re not yet a member, learn how to join at aace.com/join.

AACE Certificate Programs

I am pleased to announce the launch of our new interactive AACE Certificates program for endocrine care team members. These certificates provide a comprehensive and interactive approach to education focused on a particular endocrine disease state. Our first certificate program, which launched in May 2024, focuses on the fundamentals of diabetes technology. It includes five case-based courses to provide endocrine care team members with up-to-date knowledge about emerging technology ranging from continuous glucose monitors to smart insulin pens.

We are also excited to announce that we are in the process of developing additional certificate programs including obesity and weight loss, inpatient diabetes management, dyslipidemia, and osteoporosis. Each program is crafted to incorporate recent medical therapies, technologies, and guidelines. Visit aace.com/certificates to learn more about these valuable educational opportunities.

Advocacy Accomplishments

At AACE, we are committed to improving endocrine healthcare and advocating for better patient outcomes. Our Advocacy Committee has been incredibly active over 2024. Our efforts are focused on ensuring access to comprehensive care, improving health policy, and empowering our members to become effective advocates for their patients and their profession. This year we have ensured that the voices of endocrinologists and care team members are heard in multiple legislative and regulatory processes. I invite you to explore our advocacy news page to view our recent efforts, including advocating for recommendations for the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program, supporting efforts to include disclaimers on over-the-counter biotin supplements, and advocating for comprehensive obesity care coverage, just to highlight a few.

Additionally, I would like to personally invite you to join our free virtual Advocacy Training Program on October 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 4:30 PM EDT. This free event is designed to empower endocrinologists, endocrine care team members, industry professionals, and patient advocates with the knowledge, strategies, and tools to become effective advocates in their field.
